Boquete Rock Climbing
Cesiar Augusto Melendez was trained in the US in the safety and skill of rock climbing. When he saw the uplifting of Basaltic rock in the Bajo Mono area of Boquete, he knew he had an opportunity of a lifetime. It doesn't matter if you've never done this before, Cesiar gives instructions in English that will make sure you have an enjoyable experience. You will be given all the time you need, because there is no time limit to this day of adventure. Try and try again and you will surely make it to the top. You will receive special equipment including shoes, harness, gloves, etc. The price is $40 for the day. You can either find the location yourself....just follow the road from town, taking the left fork (the opposite direction from the Panamonte which requires you to take the right fork) up the Alto Lino road to the fork at the Los Naranjos Stadium. Take the left fork there and continue on the road to Alto Quiel and Bajo Mono. You won't miss the rock formation on your left because it is different from any other in the area. OR...you can take a special taxi that knows the location, by asking Cesiar to arrange it for you.

Caldera Hot Springs
This is not really a tourist attraction, in that it is situated on the private land of someone who generously allows people to use it. Therefore, there is no admission fee, and it is not easy to get to. But, for those who want to try it, it is a rewarding experience. CAUTION: You will need a 4 wheel drive vehicle and good walking shoes
Directions: Turn off the Boquete/David Road at the sign for MONTANAS DE CALDERA development, going East, and travel direct, past the subdivision on the left, stay on the straight road at the right turn to Gualaca. Go through the town of Caldera and watch for the small sign on the right pointing to the Hot Springs. Turn right onto this very rocky dirt road and continue on for several kilometers until you cross over the suspension bridge over the Caldera River. Once over that bridge, turn left at the dead end. You can park your car there and walk, or you can try going up the road to the left...it is BAD! Up the hill is a gate on your left....go through the gate and continue to walk (very steep and rocky) and continue on until you get to the river, and the hot springs are there.
It is best to go with a guide, or someone who knows the way, the first time.
